The short version
Favuna stores your pet's health information (episodes, updates, vet visits, reminders, and photos) so you can access it whenever you need it, and so it survives if you switch phones. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't share your information with anyone except the service providers (like Google Firebase) that actually run the app's infrastructure. You can export or delete all of your data at any time from within the app.
Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect the email address you sign up with (or, if you use Google Sign-In, the basic profile information Google provides). We also generate a random account recovery code at sign-up, stored on our servers — this exists solely as a possible future account-recovery aid and is never shown or used anywhere in the app today. When you use Favuna, we store the information you choose to enter: your pet's name, photo, and optional details (breed, birthdate, sex, spayed/neutered status, known allergies), health episodes and updates you log, breathing rate readings, vet visit details, saved veterinarian contact information, and reminders you set. If you attach a photo to an update, that photo is stored securely and is only ever visible to your own account. If you enable notifications, we store a device notification token so reminders can actually reach your phone — this token identifies your device for delivering notifications, not you personally.
How we use your information
We use your information to operate the app: to display your pets and their health records back to you, to send the reminders and notifications you set up, and to generate the health reports you choose to share or export. We use your email address only for account security — to verify your account and to send password-reset emails if you request one. We do not use your email for marketing, and we do not send emails you haven't asked for.
Where your data is stored
Favuna is built on Google Firebase, a cloud infrastructure platform. Your data is stored on Google's servers and is subject to Google's own security practices for Firebase. We do not run our own separate servers for your data.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data to anyone, ever.
- We don't show ads or let advertisers access your information.
- We don't share your pet's health data with third parties for their own purposes.
- We don't use your data to train AI models.
Your controls
From inside the app, at any time, you can: export a complete copy of your data (either as a technical JSON file or as a readable record with photos included), delete an individual pet or health episode, or permanently delete your entire account — which removes all of your data, including photos, from our systems.
Children's privacy
Favuna is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and note the date at the top. We won't make a material change that reduces your privacy without telling you clearly first.
